Adult Session 4 • A Tile of Two Studios • Adult Camp (July 28 - Aug. 1) • 1:00pm-4:00pm • MAIN
with Codey Davis

Come make a wall piece to cherish for years to come! In this adult cross-studio camp we will spend the first part of our week bringing our tiles to life in the ceramic studio. For these terracotta tiles we will use a variety of decorative techniques including slip, inlay, wax resist, underglaze, and additive and subtractive techniques. In the second half of the week, students will move into the metal studio learning how to forge and weld their tile’s custom frame! We’ll have two set sizes (one square, one rectangular) to make the time in the metal studio a little easier given the short time constraints. By the end of the week, you’ll have a beautiful wall hanging to show off to all your friends!
This class will take place at Groundworks Main, 3750 Canfield St. Boulder, CO
Ages: 16+
Available for registration Tuesday, May 27th at 8:00am
Adult Session 4 • Frankenstein Vases • MON (July 28) • $85 • EAST
with Jimmie White

Who doesn’t love a little experimentation? In this all-levels hand-building class, we’ll be focusing on the assembly and construction of clay forms by cutting pieces up and putting them back together in any weird or wild way you can imagine.
Groundworks will provide multiple leather-hard thrown pieces that you can use to make your one-of-kind piece - either sculptural or functional. Due to the short length of this class, you’ll have a handful of glazing options to choose from and our dedication lab - uh, we mean studio - assistants will finish them up for you. After a few weeks, we’ll reach out and let you know when your pieces are ALIIIIIIVE!
This class takes place at Groundworks EAST 3063 Sterling Circle, Boulder, CO.
PLEASE NOTE: This one-time class runs for 3.5 hours. You will not have access to the studio outside of the scheduled class time and all work will be completed during class time. You will also not have access to our other locations.
Your pieces will be fired in our electric kilns to Cone 6 Oxidation.

Adult Session 4 • Glazed and NOT Confused • SUN (Aug. 3 - Aug. 10) • Pay What You Can • HILL
with Becky Bragg

Alright alright alright… You have glazing questions, we’ve got answers. Join us for a special 2-week class to learn and practice the ins and outs of glazing. Week one will go over different glazing techniques including pouring, dipping, waxing, and taping. In week two, we’ll look at the results to see what worked and talk about what didn’t and why.
Groundworks will provide bisqueware pieces and test tiles to practice on. Here’s the catch: all glazed pieces will go to our Chili Bowl Art Market sale on September 14 & 15. All proceeds from this sale go to support our Partner Programs, so we thank you in advance for your donation of glazed work! Here’s what we recommend: since you don’t get to hang onto your glazed pieces, we’ll also be providing test tiles to keep track of your glaze choices for future reference. That’s what we call a win-win.
This class takes place at Groundworks HILL, 1010 Aurora Ave, Boulder, CO.
PLEASE NOTE: This two-week class runs for 2 hours each week. You will not have access to the studio outside of the scheduled class time and all work will be completed during class time. You will also not have access to our other locations.
Your pieces will be fired in our electric kilns to Cone 6 Oxidation. Hot tip: electric kiln oxidation firing is what most people use in their home studio set-ups, so if you’re aiming to set up a home pottery business in the future, this is a great place to start!
This is a Pay What You Can class with a suggested price of $80

Adult Session 4 • The Function of Form • Adult Camp (Aug. 4 - Aug. 9) • 1:00pm-4:00pm • HILL
with John Minkler

Ever throw something on the wheel and want to repeat it, but you’re not sure where to start? Come figure out the form in this week long adult clay camp! In this camp, students will pick a shape and work on repeating it to learn consistency in throwing and how to make a uniform set. In ceramics repetition is key to getting the form just right. Come learn some techniques and tricks to making this happen along with plenty of wheel time to practice! This camp is all about the process and not about the product. Students won’t keep anything which leaves room to let go and explore without the pressure of completion. By the end of camp, students will have a much better understanding of what goes into making a repetitive shape that will greatly improve their throwing skills for sets in future classes.

Print Adult Session 4B • Tetra Pak • FRI (Aug 8)
with No Instructor

Welcome to Quick Print! These one-time classes offer students a crash course in one specific type of print without the commitment of a multi-week class. Perfect for beginners, experimenters, or anyone looking for a fun way to learn a new skill fast!
Reduce, reuse, reimagine with Tetra Pak printmaking! Printmakers have a special kind of curiosity—the type that makes you look at an empty carton and think, "I bet I can print with that." That instinct to experiment and repurpose is exactly what led to Tetra Pak printmaking.
Tetra Paks are those familiar, lightweight cartons used for shelf-stable liquids like juice, milk, and broth—lined with a thin layer of aluminum to keep contents fresh. The aluminum layer takes ink surprisingly well, holding fine lines and details with precision. Scratch in your design, ink it up, and pull a print. Suddenly, that empty carton has become something entirely new.
It’s art with a sense of resourcefulness—proof that the most inspiring materials are sometimes the ones right under your nose. Come spend the evening experimenting with us!

Open Lab: This class includes access to the studio during Open Lab hours. Open Lab is exclusively for students who are currently enrolled in the program. You are allowed to attend one Open Lab session per week, totaling 3 hours during the duration of your class. You may only attend the Open Lab session for the class in which you are registered. This time is intended for independent work on your class project. While studio staff will be present, they are there to ensure you are using the tools safely, not to provide instruction.
Class Make-Up: Our studios are full with adult and youth classes 7 days a week, 48 weeks a year. Typically, every class is full, which means there is simply no space for students to make up classes. If we cancel an entire class due to weather or other emergencies, we can not guarantee we will be able to schedule a make-up class. Individuals who miss a class will not be able to make it up. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions for more information about missed classes.
Studio Clean Up: Clean-up is critical! Please help our hardworking staff and volunteers by beginning clean-up 30 minutes before the end of class, helping out with common areas, and leaving class on time.
