For students that have never touched clay to those still learning the basics.

This class will cover the basic “how tos” of pottery. Students will learn the foundations of throwing, including how to confidently center, pull, and trim pots on the wheel. The class will also cover basic glazing techniques, attaching handles, and how to track your pieces through the studio.

Always wanted to try the potter's wheel, but didn't know where to start? This class is a great intro to the wheel in 5 short weeks!

This class is intended to get you familiar with the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. Students will have 3 weeks of throwing instruction, one week of trimming, and one week of glazing. This class is ideal for those who have limited experience and want to learn the basics of centering, trimming and glazing, with a short instructor demo and hands-on assistance each week.

Please note: This class does not include Open Lab hours or additional clay.

This class is Pay What You Can with a suggested price of $200.

Bring your sweetheart, your sibling, a pal, or just yourself for this beginner-friendly class and fall in love with a new hobby. The projects and tools will vary from week to week, so you may find yourself making a set of custom glass coasters, or a fused glass suncatcher; you may even find yourself melting and reforming glass by hand with a little flame-working! No matter what the project, this class will shatter your date's expectations and you'll come away with a hand-made art piece you can cherish.

Please come dressed in close-toe and heel shoes, and natural material clothing, i.e. cotton or linen, long pants are recommended.No loose or dangling jewelry, long earrings or scarves.If you have long hair, please have it securely tied back from your face.We will provide safety goggles, but if you have your own and would like to bring them, please do!

The Book Arts League is excited to announce that we will now offer open studio hours! Our shop will be available monthly for you to print your work. Below are the upcoming open studio dates. BAL board members will be your hosts and will assist you with your printing projects. Join Brenda Gallagher to make a simple pamphlet stitch notebook with cardstock covers. To design the cover of the book, students will experiment with different embroidery stitches to make patterns. We'll practice our embroidery skills before moving to final book covers. An entire rainbow spectrum of embroidery floss will be available for you to choose the perfect colors for your design. Designs can be simple shapes, letters or anything you can imagine! Photos attached.

The Book Arts League is a Colorado-based community of individuals who share an interest in letterpress printing, calligraphy, and bookbinding.

So you’ve learned the basics of woodworking and now your looking to take things to the next level? This 8-week Level II class is the place to be. You’ll get hands-on teaching on how to finesse your milling and explore more in-depth joinery, shaping and finishing on a larger project. We'll walk you through the whole process of creating a simple but beautiful functional piece that you'll want to brag to all your friends about.

This class is not for beginners, so if you’re new here, we recommend either starting with a Studio Sampler or a Level I Woodworking class first!

Our Wood Studio has some safety basics before anyone is allowed to join in the fun (failure to meet these requirements will result in not being granted access to the equipment): 

•  Please come dressed in close-toed shoes, a shirt that can be tucked in and either short sleeves, or sleeves that can be rolled up past your elbows. 
• No loose or dangling jewelry.
• If you have long hair, please have it securely tied back from your face.
• We will provide safety goggles and/or full face shields, ear protection, and face masks to cover nose and mouth, but if you have your own PPE you would prefer to use, please do!

Please note that students only have open lab access corresponding to their specific class area (e.g., milling open lab is separate from turning open lab).

You know what’s cuter than a love note? How about a hand-crafted one-of-a-kind art print? You know where you can make those? Right in Groundworks Art Lab’s Print Studio!

Bring your sweetheart, your sibling, your pal, or just yourself for this beginner-friendly class and fall in love with a new hobby. The projects and tools will vary from week to week, so you may find yourself making a print from a hand-carved linoleum plate, or making a completely unique never-to-be-repeated monotype print. Whatever the project, you and your date will have a limited edition set of prints to swap with each other at the end of the night!

Materials and tools included. Ink is forever, so wear clothes you’re not attached to just in case!

Spend the day with Aaron and Dennis making wooden shaping ribs for clay. Aaron will have patterns for tools used in his Japanese style porcelain class, and will speak to how the shapes can be utilized.  Dennis will guide us on proper use of shop tools and discuss properties of different wood species. You are welcome to bring your own patterns and ideas for shaping ribs. We will have enough time and material for you to make 3-4 tools to take home at the end of the day.
