with Jax Perna

Nature has always been present in art - whether to simply display the beauty or make scientific observations of the natural world, or to open our minds to our soul’s own connection to nature.
In this 4-week intermediate to advanced level printmaking class, we will teach a variety of techniques to incorporate real foliage into printmaking through the exploration of processes such as pigment extraction, light-exposure printing, collagraphy and monotype, and silk screening. Anyone with a passion for nature and the arts is encouraged to join!
This class will be jumping straight into some of the more advanced applications of printmaking so we encourage folks to sign up only if they have some previous experience with print (but you absolutely do not need to be a pro).
Ages: 16+
All supplies and materials will be provided.
Will be available to register on Monday, July 28 at 8:00am.

If we cancel an entire class due to weather or other emergencies, we can not guarantee we will be able to schedule a make-up class. Individuals who miss a class will not be able to make it up. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions for more information about missed classes.
Studio Clean Up: Clean-up is critical! Please help our hardworking staff and volunteers by beginning clean-up 30 minutes before the end of class, helping out with common areas, and leaving class on time.

Safety First: Long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Shirts and tops should be easy to tuck in, with sleeves that can be rolled up as needed. Glass fusing, also known as kiln-formed glass, involves heating multiple pieces of glass in a kiln to create a single, fused piece. It's a versatile art form with many practical and decorative applications.
Come learn and explore the basics of using glass as an artmaking medium in just a couple of hours in this introductory level class. We’ll provide all of the materials to make a small fused leaf ornament from cut colored glass.
This class has no prerequisites and is specifically set up for absolute beginners to this art form. Our Glass Studio does have some safety basics before anyone is allowed to join in the fun (failure to meet these requirements will result in not being granted access to the equipment):

Please come dressed in close-toe and heel shoes, and natural material clothing, i.e. cotton or linen, long pants are recommended.
-
No loose or dangling jewelry, long earrings or scarves.
-
If you have long hair, please have it securely tied back from your face.

Welcome to Quick Print! These one-time classes offer students a crash course in one specific type of print without the commitment of a multi-week course. Perfect for beginners, experimenters, or anyone looking for a fun way to learn a new skill fast!
Drypoint printmaking is a fascinating intaglio (incising a plate) technique where images are scratched into a plate with a hard-pointed needle or tool. The scratches create burrs (raised edges) that hold ink, making it easy to get started with printing your design. And don't worry, you don't have to be an expert at drawing - we have stacks of magazines you can trace images out of.
Drypoint is the perfect combination of precision, technique, and total creative freedom, offering endless possibilities for unique and expressive artwork. Enjoy the process, and let your creativity flow!
