The first fired-clay figurine ever found dates back to 29,000 BC. The potter’s wheel was first used by the Egyptians in 3000 BC. In this class students will choose any piece of ancient ceramics from the year 1 AD and earlier to recreate to the best of their abilities. Whether it be sculpture or pottery, handbuilding or wheel throwing, you will do your best to mimic the shape and style of the pieces we are drawn to. Just a few of the eras to look at are: Nazca, Ancient Greek, Minoan, Mycenaean, Etruscan, Jomon and so many more!
(Please check the class prerequisites before registering for this class.)
