Always wanted to try the potter's wheel, but didn't know where to start? This class is a great intro to the wheel in 5 short weeks!
This class is intended to get you familiar with the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. Students will have 3 weeks of throwing instruction, one week of trimming, and one week of glazing. This class is ideal for those who have limited experience and want to learn the basics of centering, trimming and glazing, with a short instructor demo and hands-on assistance each week.
Please note: This class does not include Open Lab hours or additional clay.
Ages 16+ to register

Level I Hand-building for students wanting to explore the basic techniques for hand-building functional, sculptural, or decorative pieces.
Learn about the various hand-building tools, and the three basic hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab rolling through a series of self-guided projects.
Ages: 16+
Class meets weekly on FRIDAYS for 8 weeks
Note: This class will meet at the new Main location at 3750 Canfield Street in NE Boulder. You will only have open lab access at the same studio as your class.

Adult Session 3B • Exploring the Animal Figure • TUE (May 27 - June 17) • HILL

Join us as we explore the intricate nature of realistic animal sculpture. This course will study anatomy, pose and textures to reflect life like representations of animal forms. We will mostly be focusing on cats and dogs, so feel free to bring reference photos of your pets, however, we can accommodate similar types of animals (4 legged and furry!) if you have a different critter in mind.
This class takes place at Groundworks HILL at 1010 Aurora Ave, Boulder, CO in the upstairs hand-building classroom.
This class meets weekly for 4 weeks on TUESDAYS.
Class does NOT include additional open lab time or clay. All work must be completed during class time.

Adult Session 3B • The World of Miniatures • WED (May 28 - June 18) • EAST

Have big ideas but a small amount of space? In this 4-week course, explore how the world of miniatures, dollhouses, and dioramas can let you create a complex world that brings your imagination to life, all within a 1/2” scale. We will focus on basic hand-building construction techniques and learn basic-intermediate slip and glaze work that will allow you to build your perfect world.
This class takes place at Groundworks EAST at 3063 Sterling Cir. in Boulder, CO in the hand-building classroom.
This class meets weekly for 4 weeks on WEDNESDAYS.
Class does NOT include additional open lab time or clay. All work must be completed during class time.
Ages: 16+
