Metal Adult Session 3A • 4-Week Welding 101: Basic Container • MON (Apr 28 - May 19) • MAIN
with Mowgli Gunn

Suitable for All Skill Levels: Discover the fundamentals of MIG (wire-feed) welding and create a project from steel bar and plate. This all-levels class is structured to accommodate different experience levels. If you're new to welding, you'll concentrate on building a solid foundation by creating a basic container. If you have prior experience, you'll likely progress to constructing a lidded box. You'll also learn essential techniques for drilling, threading, and using a hand-held grinder, as well as how to assemble steel into rectangular forms with interior parts and a finished look. Both welding and assembly are emphasized. To maximize your learning and project success, we recommend taking advantage of the open lab hours available throughout the 4-week duration for extra practice and project work.

Class Policies & Information:
Open Lab: This class includes access to the studio during Open Lab hours. Open Lab is exclusively for students who are currently enrolled in the program. You are allowed to attend one Open Lab session per week, totaling 3 hours during the duration of your class. You may only attend the Open Lab session for the class in which you are registered. This time is intended for independent work on your class project. While studio staff will be present, they are there to ensure you are using the tools safely, not to provide instruction.
Class Make-Up: Our studios are full with adult and youth classes 7 days a week, 48 weeks a year. Typically, every class is full, which means there is simply no space for students to make up classes. If we cancel an entire class due to weather or other emergencies, we can not guarantee we will be able to schedule a make-up class. Individuals who miss a class will not be able to make it up. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions for more information about missed classes.
Studio Clean Up: Clean-up is critical! Please help our hardworking staff and volunteers by beginning clean-up 30 minutes before the end of class, helping out with common areas, and leaving class on time.

Print Adult 3A • Printing with Collage • Beginner/All Level Intaglio Printmaking • TUE (Apr 29 - May 20) • MAIN
with Melissa Pickering

Do you collage? Do you decopage? Do you recycle? Do you upcycle? Do you ever hesitate throwing something away because you just know there is some type of project you could use it for? Welcome to collagraphy, my friend!
Collagraphy is a printmaking process in which found materials are glued or sealed to a rigid substrate (paperboard in this instance) to create a plate. Once inked, the plate becomes a tool for imprinting the design onto paper with the resulting print termed a collagraph. The term "collagraph" is derived from the Greek word koll or kolla (also where the French get "collage"), meaning glue, and graph, meaning the activity of drawing.
This 4-week class will run you through the basics of creating a unique, free-form collaged plate, mixing and applying ink, and using our printing presses to make totally original artwork that you can treasure forever (instead of hoarding weird bits of garbage you can't stand to part with).
Ages: 16+
All supplies and materials will be provided. Bringing your own found objects are welcome and encouraged!
