Print Adult Session 5B - A Touch of Printmaking: Drypoint (1 - Week Class)
with Melissa Pickering
Have you always wanted to try printmaking, but didn't know where to start? This series of classes are ideal for those who have limited experience and want a taste of the varied and intricate art of printmaking. You can sign up for one or all 4 of these "hors d'oeuvre" classes.
There will be an instructor demo and hands-on assistance each week. Students will try introductory techniques for each of the following: relief, monotype, and intaglio. This will include carving, mixing and rolling ink, and making a successful print.
This class: Drypoint - learn how to make a simple drypoint (intaglio) plate using plexiglas by marking and scratching an image by hand. The plate is then inked, wiped, and printed on the press.
Other Classes in Series: Week 1: Collagraph; Week 2: Relief; Week 3: Monotype
These courses provide a great way to get a real sense of the art of printmaking, and to identify which direction to go next! Come have some fun in our new printmaking studio!

Printmaking on Gelli Plates (1- Day Class)
with Renate Marie
Join us for a dynamic, interactive 3-hour class making botanical paper prints from gelatin plates, aka "Gelli" plates.
This non-toxic form of printmaking utilizes color and texture to create one of a kind (mono)prints. We will print a variety of plants & flowers, while exploring composition development with the use of layering techniques. Gelli printing offers instant access to a form of playful self-expression that helps to develop free associative thinking in a fun and supportive environment.
