Please join us for the Wonderful World of Raku! A class specializing in Handbuilding and Raku techniques from different parts of the world. We will be doing firings based on Japanese, Western (Horsehair/Natural) and Eastern European (Obvara) reduction firing techniques. You can't miss this!

This class will cover the basic “how tos” of pottery. Students will learn the foundations of throwing, including how to confidently center, pull, and trim pots on the wheel. The class will also cover basic glazing techniques, attaching handles, and how to track your pieces through the studio.

The demonstrations for this class go beyond the basics. Students will learn how to make more complex forms and techniques including: altered forms, lidded jars, throwing off-the-hump, sgraffito, and more.

Bring the holidays to life!

In this all-levels class, learn how to use slabs, coils, and pinching to make one-of-a-kind holiday decorations to cherish in your home for years to come. Each week the instructor will come prepared with a different holiday themed project, but feel free to bring your own ideas!

This class takes place at Groundworks East at 3063 E. Sterling Circle, Boulder, CO

This class meets weekly for 4 weeks on TUESDAYS

Class does NOT include additional open lab time or clay. All work must be completed during class time.

Join us in exploring pottery forms inspired by Eastern ceremonial tea traditions. You will learn techniques for making matching sets of teabowls and show you how to throw and construct your own teapot. We will discuss the features important to these forms and how they contribute to the tea drinking experience. Opportunities for attending tea ceremonies outside of class will be made available to help inform your teaware. This class will be somewhat challenging, but the techniques you learn will help you become a more consistent thrower, with new skills that translate to many other forms. 

For making teabowls and teapots, we recommend you have one or two small wooden bowl throwing ribs/discs (C27-13 or similar) and a throwing stick (C27-19 Medium or similar). These can be purchased from Clay King and many other retailers.
