Metal Adult Session 6B Hive Tool • FRI (1 - Day Class) • MAIN

Calling all Beekeepers! Forge your own J-style hive tool for use in your apiary. This is an introductory course where you will learn fire safety and management, shaping hot steel, and the appropriate use of the various parts of the anvil. You will spend some time forging, filing, twisting, and forming material. You will walk away with a useful bee-yard tool.
What to Wear in the Metals Studio?
You must dress safely and appropriately. Arrive for class in all-natural fiber clothing, long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes with socks that protect up to the ankle. Long hair must be tied back. Nylon, polyester, spandex, or other synthetics are not allowed around machines, equipment, or processes that can produce hot fragments, sparks, or flames. Layers are encouraged, as the studio can be very cold or very hot.
Welding students are recommended to wear long sleeve shirts to prevent arc-flash burns. Additional protective gear shall be provided as needed.
Personal Property:
Personal materials will need to go home with you at the end of each class. We do not provide storage.
This class takes place at the new Groundworks studio space at 3750 Canfield Street, Boulder, CO.

Print Adult Session 6B - Printmaking on Fabric (4-Week Class)

This is a perfect class for anyone interest in printing on fabric and wanting to explore their own patterns and images. Learn numerous approaches for creating and printing your own unique designs on various fabrics and papers. Several relief printing techniques and materials will be covered. These basic processes will be mastered with and without a press so you can print anywhere and anytime.
Starter fabric will be provided, but if you have plant-based fabric (linen, cotton, hemp, etc.) at home that you would love to print on please bring to class.
Ages: 16+

Print Adult Session 6B: Mask Making with Relief Printmaking (4 Weeks)

Come have fun making three-dimensional masks adorned with colorful relief prints and learn how to apply printmaking to your fully wearable masterpiece. Join in the excitement of creating a fully decorated mask of your spirit animal, creative creature, awesome robot, or even an oversized humanoid. Surprise your friends at Halloween, or ring in the New Year with the theme of your choice!
You will discover and learn how to design with patterns through print using many different relief printmaking techniques and materials which will then be adhered to your incredibly built creation. These techniques start a creative printmaking journey providing a FUN class for the young-at-heart. Bring your optimism, enthusiasm, and alter ego to create your magnificently awesome mask!

Wood Adult Session 6B • Level I Sushi Set • FRI (4-Week Class) • MAIN

Make yourself a set of 4 Sushi place settings, a cutting board, and chopsticks. Embellish them with pyrography (wood burning) or wood carving. Including chopsticks, sushi boards, and a cutting board. The sky's the limit on your creativity, design your own shape and choose the species or combination thereof that you would like to use.

Metal Adult Session 6B: Practical Blacksmithing – An Introduction (4 Week Class)

If you have wondered what the craft of blacksmithing is like topractice, this class is for you. Come create fascinating forms insteel with a highly experienced Blacksmith. Find out how to experiencethe joy of working with glowing metal while shaping steel into objectsof utility and beauty. Winter Holiday Decorations Family Fun-Day
with Jinna Lincoln
Join us for an afternoon of fun and holiday art-making with your family!
In this Family Holiday-themed class, children and adults will work together to hand-build holiday decorations and gifts. Pieces can be decorated with textures, designs, and painted with underglaze.
We will then fire and glaze all pieces and let you know when they are ready for pickup, about 3 weeks later. This is a fun way to give handmade gifts or have beautiful decorations for your home that last a lifetime!
Location: Groundworks Art Lab Hill 1010 Aurora Avenue, Boulder
Cost: $30 per person
